Essentially setting up a dish comes down to:
Mount the dish, run the coax.
Get a helper and some radios or some way to communicate with each other.
Move the dish slowly about 1/16th of an inch at a time and wait about 5 seconds
for a signal report.
My steps are usually.
1. Move left/right for maximum.
2. Elevate/Lower for maximum.
3. Tilt Left/Right for maximum.
4. Repeat as needed.
No matter what you do make sure you wait at least 5 seconds for the
tuner to react before you move it again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------CHANNEL LOCATING AND EDITING.
Unless you sit and watch each channel trying to figure out what it is you will
need to use a Channel editor to save alot of time and "force" new channels.
By "forcing" new channels I refer to typing in all their information and then
uploading it to the Ultra. This skips the SCAN step on the ultra and is not
recommended for hundreds of channels. Better to let the Ultra find them first.
First you should have a working channel list scanned and present in the Ultra.
The channel numbers are all preceeded by PR and the number will actually match
up to Dishnet channel numbers. However they will NOT show up in the proper places,
ie. PR 132 may show up as channel 50, 95, 500 etc.
There are many places to get channel information. One of the best, because of all
the extra information, is located at
LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite. There you can compare your
PR#s to the SID#s and you can figure out what channels you have and what they are.

Think hard about how you want to organize the channels as there are so many you need
to come up with some sort of system.
Here is mine for example purposes only.
I usually always sort by A-Z so when so once I have all the channel names typed in
I organize them by A-Z in the unit. Any channels I can't figure out, I place a small
"z" before the PR# so PR 844 becomes zPR 844 and it moves to the bottom of the list
where I can check it out later to figure out what it is.
Local type channels like ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC etc, I organize by placing the letter L then
the STATE, CITY and NETWORK. Example: Kansas City ABC becomes L KS City ABC. The L keeps
all these type stations in one area and the state abbreviation with city name keeps all
the related city stations next to each other when sorted. With famous or long name cities
you can skip the state or work out something.
Pay Per View Channels. If you are a tester and get PPV channels a good way to organize
them is to keep the number in the name. So PR 500 becomes PPV 500. If you are into
sports you could do something like PPV 630 NFL, PPV 450 Sprts etc. Doing this keeps
all the PPVs together in numbered sequence and type.
Foreign countries. Try and keep the NAME of the country first so all KOREA, CHINA and such
are located next to each other. Using station names can make them jump all over the place.
To move programs to where I want them near the front I usually put something in front of the
name to move it closer to channel one.
Examples: Put 3 spaces in front of the TV Guide channel and it will move to channel 1.
Put 2 spaces in front of your L (locals) and they will be channel 2 and up.
Put 1 space in front of your favorites and they'll be right after your locals.
Put a ' before all the movie channels and they'll be next.
Put a , before all the childrens channels and they'll group together.
Theres no set rules so you'll have to work out what works for you. Personally I like the
ability to organize my way and not how someone else sets them up.
NEW CHANNEL LOCATING.
This can be done at least 2 ways.
1. Add the new channel information into your channel editor and upload it.
2. Scan for new channels with the unit.
I prefer #2 but the Ultra has a quirk and that is if you scan and find new
channels and then save those new channels, it will wipe out all of your edited
channel info. My method is to always have an up to date PC backup of what is
in the Ultra BEFORE I scan. After scanning I just write down the new channel
information. ie. Number, Satellite, Frequency, TransPonder, Audio and Video.
You can find all this by pressing the YELLOW remote button while on any channel
you want information about.
Once I have this information I simply APPEND it into the Channel editor program
and re-upload it to the unit.
Mostly the changes are PPV channels but sometimes new stuff shows up. I try to
scan at least 2 times a week. Usually Wednesday and Friday but any day is ok if
you have it backed up.
